About ME

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and received my MSW from Smith College School for Social Work in 2011.  My practice is located in downtown Northampton, MA. I have a grounded, thoughtful, and relational style.  I believe that therapy should help you access your innate intuition and insight, and that the therapist's role is to provide support and guidance through that process.

My APPROACH

My work is deeply informed by social justice and I am committed to helping people feel empowered while examining the structures and systems in place that create marginalization. I draw on narrative, relational, feminist, and transfeminist approaches in therapy and I weave in evidence based practices such as EMDR and CBT when needed. You can read more about the kinds of therapy I offer here.  I strive to create a comfortable atmosphere in sessions and am sensitive to helping people who have had negative experiences in therapy in the past.

TRAINING

In addition to my master's level coursework at Smith College School for Social Work, I have completed specialized postgraduate training in gender, sex, sexuality, identity development, and trauma informed treatment.  These include:

  • Training and participation in supervision group on Open Dialogue and dialogic approaches at the Institute for Open Dialogue in Haydenville, MA

  • Working and training at TIGRIS (the Training Institute for Gender, Relationships, Identity, and Sexuality) in Albany, NY

  • Ongoing work and training with Northampton Sex Therapy Associates

  • Training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
